🚨 Breaking Immigration News: PEI Tightens Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) Rules! 🚨
The Prince Edward Island (PEI) Office of Immigration has announced significant changes to the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) due to high application volumes and reduced federal allocations.
Starting January 24, 2025, PEI will limit AIP applications to workers in only three high-demand sectors:
✅ Healthcare – Registered nurses, personal support workers, and medical professionals
✅ Construction – Skilled trades such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers
✅ Manufacturing – Machine operators, production workers, and laborers
Why Is PEI Restricting AIP?
These changes aim to prioritize labor market needs and better align PEI’s immigration pathways with the province’s growing demand for workers in essential sectors. As a result, applications for hospitality and other industries will no longer be accepted under AIP.
What If You’re in a Different Industry?
If your profession is outside of healthcare, construction, or manufacturing, you still have alternative immigration options, including:
🔹 PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) – Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for consideration under PEI’s Labour Impact or Express Entry streams.
🔹 Express Entry System – Apply for permanent residency through Canada's federal immigration programs.
🔹 Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) – Explore work permit options if your job is in demand.
What Should You Do Next?
📌 If you qualify for AIP in one of the approved sectors, apply now before quotas fill up!
